At 32 gph, he could well have his best years ahead of him. Everyone is different.

Great for him to have the euros on the agenda too.

The geezer knows how to wear the shirt .pride, passion and commitment.

Amazed that he wasn't miles better when he was younger, though

I love it when old blokes get MotM.

He's only a quarter of a century younger than me...

Re: James "ginger pele" Collins
Collins is too slow and uncomfortable on the ball to be a top defender like Mooro or Rio were but there's no doubting his commitment and ability to defend at all costs.

I certainly would have made Collins MotM but I refer you all to - http://www.whoscored.com/Matches/959584/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2015-2016-West-Ham-Liverpool -

It seems that Mark Noble was actually our best player with a 9.33 mark out of 10 just to totally piss off Rodfarts...

Re: James "ginger pele" Collins
James Collins put in such a good performance it would have made Vincent Kompany look average.

I've not seen a defender act with so much speed and anticipation. You don't learn that.

Re: James "ginger pele" Collins
He's been our best centre half since Rio and should go down as a modern day legend for us. He's not perfect and can fuck up against the smaller teams but he puts it all on the line when he plays for us. Love the bloke

Balto
Yea that's correct..Gabbidon was very much the main signing out of the two at the time.
I think ginge has proved many wrong..including Aston Villa fans..who I reckon would love him back right now

Re: James "ginger pele" Collins
My 12 year old and I call him the magnet, because the ball always seems to go to him. Must be the ginger bit that makes him instantly recognisable.

Re: James "ginger pele" Collins
Yes, Balto, he was OK back then, but his head was on upsidedown.

He's been immense since he had the corrective surgery.

Balto 1:42 Sun Jan 3
Re: James "ginger pele" Collins
He came in a package with Danny Gabbidon, in the year we got promoted with Pardew. If my addled memory serves me correctly.

Superb performance, I had cressers MOTM but can't argue

Charoo 1:08 Sun Jan 3
Re: James "ginger pele" Collins
The amount of headers he won today was incredible, I wonder if he touched the ball more with his head than he did with his feet.

He's immense but I think playing with Ogbonna suits him. 1 goal conceded in 5 would suggest our defensive unit is working rather well.

first choice center back for me

And plenty here questioned the new deal.

Re: James "ginger pele" Collins
...he deserved it for today alone. Monumental effort and whilst MOTM could have gone to a number of players, I'd say it's just about right he got it. Well done, son!

Re: James "ginger pele" Collins
I have been critical of Ginge a fair few times on here, but he has been superb in the last few games. I questioned the new 2 year deal but

team boaty 12:32 Sun Jan 3
Re: James "ginger pele" Collins
Immense throughout the Christmas period both home and away

Cress has been injured, Tomkins has been played out of position, Ogbonna made a bad error of judgement at Villa & Jenks has been up and down like a 70`s bus clippy

But Ginge has been our one solid. World class defending at the highest level
